Please do not ask me any questions about the RF600R as I no longer own one.
The design of the RF series (400, 600 and 900) was influenced by a Ferrari Testarossa, the mother alien from the film Aliens and a Mantaray.
Suzuki produced the RF600/RF600R between 1993 and and 1998 although availability differs from country to country. The RF600 was always sold in solid colours including red, yellow, blue and turquoise.
The specifications of the RF600R that I have collected can be found here.
The engine was an upgraded version of the discontinued GSXR600's and was canted forward 55 degrees to fire the incoming charge a more vertical path past the intake valves. Oil jets aimed at the cylinder bottoms coupled with a water cooled oil filter ensure a cool running and longer lasting engine. It's a 16v engine and manages a measured 80bhp at the rear wheel. The bike manages about 34mpg around town and 42mpg at a constant speed. The RF expels its exhaust through a four-into-one stainless steel header matched with an aluminum muffler.
The twin spar frame is diamond steel and painted to match the bodywork. It surrounds a 6 litre airbox to four downdraft Mikuni carburetors feeding the inlet system, a U shaped radiator (allowing the engine to sit closer to the front wheel) and leaves space for a small glovebox. The seating position is arguably racer like with fairly low bars. There is an amber low-fuel indicator light on the dash-panel that alerts the rider when there is about 80 miles left on tap.
